Electrical Industries Company (EIC) was established in 2005 through the merger of Wahah Electric Supply Company of Saudi Arabia (WESCOSA) and Saudi Transformers Company (STC) with the goal of increasing capacity to satisfy the growing demand for quality industrial electrical equipment in Saudi Arabia. After the merger, in terms of capacity, EIC became the largest manufacturer and distributor of transformers in the Middle East. WESCOSA had been established in 1976 as a joint venture between Westinghouse Electrical Company and Ali Zaid Al Quraishi & Brothers. Two years later, Saudi Transformers Company (STC) began operations.
Since its formation, EIC has continued to grow. In 2010 EIC established Saudi Power Transformers Company (SPTC) and CG-Power Systems Saudi Arabia (CGPSSA) in a joint venture with CG-Power Systems Belgium. SPTC manufactures up to 100 MVA with 145kV Class transformers based on CG licensed technology. CGPSSA offers a diverse portfolio that includes transformers, switchgears, circuit breakers, network protection & control gear, project engineering, HT and LT motors, drives, lighting, fans and pumps, plus electrical services and turnkey solutions.
