Electrical Industries Company (EIC) was established in 2005 through the merger of Wahah Electric Supply Company of Saudi Arabia (WESCOSA) and Saudi Transformers Company (STC) with the goal of increasing capacity to satisfy the growing demand for quality industrial electrical equipments in Saudi Arabia.
WESCOSA had been established in 1976 as a joint venture between Westinghouse Electrical Company and Ali Zaid Al Quraishi & Brothers Company. Saudi Transformers Company (STC) was founded in 1982. After the merger, in terms of capacity, EIC became the largest manufacturer and distributor of transformers in the Middle East. WESCOSA manfactures mainly distribution transformers, switchboards, panel boards and accessories while STC had manufacturing facilities of distribution transformers, package substations and low voltage panels of wide variety.
Since its formation, EIC has continued to grow. In 2010 EIC established Saudi Power Transformers Company (SPTC) and a joint venture with CG-Power Systems Belgium. SPTC manufactures up to 100 MVA with 145 kV Class transformers based on CG licensed technology. Later, SPTC became a wholly owned subsidiary of EIC.www.eic.com.sa
